Diablo 3 gets patched to patch 1.0.3 with very mixed results

The new patch 1.0.3 is out and while there are some “buffs”, such as easier act 2, 3, 4 Inferno farming, there are also a host of small nerfs and bugs.

Buffs in patch 1.0.3 – the good news first

The farming is easier now. With monsters doing less damage and loot being boosted you now have a shot at getting iLvl 63 gear without completely wasting yourself!

Monster damage in Act 2, 3 and 4 has been toned down severely. Mlvl 62 mobs have had their base damage reduced by 36% and Mlvl 63 mobs have had their base damage reduced by 44%.

A week ago, I posted an article on farming elite mobs in Inferno, act 3 using crappy gear. Doing it this way would allow you to change in to your magic find gear before killing the leader of the pack. All without taking any damage, since you were using geometry exploits.

Now there have been some confusion as to how, what and where this was done. People have also had some problems zoning in to the checkpoint correctly and there have been speculation it was nerfed. Use your jeweler to make money in Diablo 3 in the new patch

The next patch that is going to hit Diablo 3 is patch 1.0.3, or the loot patch.

It promises to boost the loot of the lower acts of Inferno, make the game a bit easier in group play and most important of all, it will make gem combining cheaper at the lower levels. The lower levels in this case means up to square gems.

The D3 AH gold dupe may or may not have worked

Yesterday the Diablo 3 community was whipped in to a frenzy by rumors of a working Diablo 3 AH gold dupe. People were getting scammed right and left and hundreds of billions of gold had been made illegitimately….supposedly.

I say supposedly, because this may have been a very elaborate hoax by members of the D3 community. Some say Kripparian did it as a media stunt to draw viewers to his channel. Others say that it was done to make people aware of how easy it is to manipulate the community. Others yet again say that it was done to force a rollback of the servers. We’ll never find out, but it did make the day more interesting!

But one thing is for sure, drawing attention to it on this level, is certainly the best way to get a working D3 gold dupe hotfixed fast!

Making real money on the RMAH is possible, but you have to be quick

The US RMAH is live, but the EU RMAH is delayed. The new launch date for the EU AH is now june 15th. The first reports coming from people that have used the RMAH are positive and of course people are shocked at the pricesthey can sell their items for.

However, you can’t sell gold yet. This is what I am most interested in and where you stand to make the most money: by using the gold money AH to make gold or trade up, then sell that on the real money AH. My original ideas from way back when still stand.

The launch of the Diablo 3 real money auction house is imminent

Blizzard have seen their share of problems with the game: a rocky launch, unstable servers, commodity auctions taken down and then put back up, albeit in a slightly buggy state, so the fact that the RMAH would launch any time soon hasn’t even been an option in my mind. So the fact that Blizzard actually “plan” on launching these next few days, really took me by surprise!

Use Nephalem Valor buff to improve your goldfarming strategies in Inferno

When you have reached level 60, you get access to the Nephalem Valor Buff in D3. Basically it is a huge boost to your gold and magic find, that you get by killing champions and elites. It lasts half an hour and can stack up to 5 times.

You can no longer reliably make money combining gems, but you might be able to make more money combining gems, than selling the flawless square ones on their own. I did some number crunching this morning and the results I came up with were pretty interesting. At first I thought people were selling at a loss, but once again economic theory came through. Turns out you CAN actually make money by selling gems….you just need to be smart about it!
