Diablo 3 PVP patch coming soon! | Monk changes and PVP in the same patch?!

Blizzard have been extremely quiet these last few weeks, with no news about patches or what they are working on in general. However, the thundering silence might have a reason, as Jay Wilson hinted on Twitter. And that reason is PVP!

Elemental damage armor in Diablo 3

Continuing on with the elemental damage gear from my earlier post about elemental damage legendary weapons, this time we take a look at what armor pieces can be used to buff your character’s unseen DPS.

One thing is having a high DPS on your character sheet, another is what kind of DPS you are actually doing. Anyone can take a piece of gear and see whether their DPS gets higher or lower. If they are smart, they also look at how their defensive stats are affected, and if they are really smart, they look at their skills and playstyle before deciding on an upgrade. But then there is the unseen DPS, that isn’t mentioned anywhere. That’s what elemental damage is all about.

Elemental damage legendary weapons | unsung heroes of D3

Diablo 3 is a very gear centric game. That is no secret. All of the focus on gear, is for one reason alone: more DPS. There are numerous ways to increase your damage: attackspeed increase, crit chance, crit damage, main stat increase….and then there is also increase to elemental damage.

IAS, crit%, crit dam and more main stat is pretty straightforward: you buy an upgrade, put it on and you DPS “score” increases. This is plainly visible on your character sheet. However, increases to elemental damage aren’t displayed directly on your character sheet, which means that they aren’t as popular as the “normal” options, which then again also means, that they are cheaper!

The most popular class skills, passives and runes in Diablo 3

Despite Blizzard having stated from the start, that they didn’t want cookie cutter builds and that they wanted to encourage this by buffing, and not nerfing….their actions have spoken differently.

The two biggest offenders with regards to cookie cutter builds would be the Whirlwind barbarian and the critical mass/WW wizard. Blizzard have decided to handle this, not by making the alternatives more attractive by buffing them, but rather by heavy swings of the nerf bat. They are cutting pretty much all proc-coefficients from the wizard and all procs-coefficients necessary to run a whirlwind barbarian.

But the rabbit hole goes deeper than that…

Monk changes in patch 1.0.6?

It is no secret that Monks are the Red-headed stepchildren of the Diablo 3 world. The class changes in patch 1.0.4 for monks sucked, especially compared to what the other classes were getting.

Some of those buffs (for the other classes) were awesome, leading to Demon Hunters using Vault and trail of cinders for easy farming….but whoops….that was a bug! So a few days after Trail of cinders went live, Blizzard decided that the 1500% damage from Trail of Cinders was a bug and needed to be “fixed” in patch 1.0.5.

And then we have the WW barbarians tearing up everything regardless of monster power level….but supposedly Jay Wilson’s favorite class is barb, so that is not going to change any time soon!

But there is light at the end of the tunnel for monks!

Changes in diablo 3 patch 1.0.5 | Defensive changes, monster power and Inferno Machine

This weeks update is going to be a little on the light side, since I have a lot going IRL right now. But I will still strive to update, although it might not be the usual 800-1000 word posts.

Swing by the D3F Facebook group and join the 1300 others, if you want to enjoy smaller bits of content more often to satisfy your Diablo 3 cravings.

With patch 1.0.4 well underway, the dev team has started to look towards patch 1.0.5, and it is looking pretty interesting. Not as many and widespread changes as in 1.0.4, but still a lot going on.

Diablo 3 paragon leveling guide

Fast Paragon leveling in Diablo 3

Patch and patch notes for patch 1.0.4 is out and what a patch!

The auction house was improved, elite packs got easier, loot got buffed, classes got buffed and most importantly: paragon levels were introduced!

The 100 paragon levels make sure, that even if your loot sucks at the end of a farming run, you will still have gained quite a bit of paragon XP, so you still have something to show for your time. But how do you level paragon levels fast?

Diablo 3 paragon level system in patch 1.0.4

Patch 1.0.4 introduces hero levels: the Paragon system

The patch 1.0.4 hype machine has been going non-stop for the last two weeks. One thing is all the 1.0.4 changes to the classes that have been announced, another are the huge buffs to legendary items or the system changes to loot, mob health and enrage timers. Those were enough to get me excited about patch 1.0.4….but there is so much more to it; including a new endgame!

Diablo 3 Patch 1.0.4 class previews are all up

D3 class preview guide for patch 1.0.4

As I mentioned in my article about the update about the update to the patch notes of patch 1.0.4, there would be a class preview for each individual class.

Over the week these have been released, and I have posted all week on the Diablo 3 farming facebook group about the class previews as they came out during the week, so a full recap is in order.
