As I talked about earlier, the drop rates for iLvl63 gear has been a bit off, but patch 1.0.3B was supposed to fix that. However, Blizzard has decided to forgo a big patch, and roll out the changes as they are ready. This will be done through hotfixes, which won’t require downloads or downtime. And on June 28th we got a huge hotfix lootwise!

The new patch 1.0.3 is out and while there are some “buffs”, such as easier act 2, 3, 4 Inferno farming, there are also a host of small nerfs and bugs.
The farming is easier now. With monsters doing less damage and loot being boosted you now have a shot at getting iLvl 63 gear without completely wasting yourself!
Monster damage in Act 2, 3 and 4 has been toned down severely. Mlvl 62 mobs have had their base damage reduced by 36% and Mlvl 63 mobs have had their base damage reduced by 44%.

June 19th will see us getting patched up to 1.0.3. This will change quite a few things: better farming, easy farming and crafting costs reduced.
Particularly the jeweler will see a reduction in prices to craft lower level gems. I have spoken a bit about trying to make money off of patch 1.0.3, by buying square gems and hope they will go up in price and then sell them. However, the prices of flawless square emeralds have significantly dropped these last few days, but all is not lost!

D3DB have datamined patch notes from the new build. Most of them we know, and I have touched on them earlier. Most notably is the decrease in crafting costs in D3 patch 1.0.3. The biggest change is the jeweler, where the lower level dropped gems will see a serious reduction in their crafting cost. This in turn leads to the potential to make some money on the D3 AH by flipping gems.
However, patch 1.0.3 also sees some changes to %IAS, or % increase attack speed. These items have been really popular on the AH and have really been able to make you some serious money. They were almost too good to be true, and it turns out it was!

The next patch that is going to hit Diablo 3 is patch 1.0.3, or the loot patch.
It promises to boost the loot of the lower acts of Inferno, make the game a bit easier in group play and most important of all, it will make gem combining cheaper at the lower levels. The lower levels in this case means up to square gems.

The preview patch notes of patch 1.0.3, promises better loot at the lower levels at Inferno. It also promises better and easier farming of those levels. But one of the most exciting bits of news in this preview, was about legendary items. Currently craptastic pieces of gear, but that is set to change!

Patch 1.0.3 is set to hit later this month. It’s not a character patch, but more of a loot patch. There are a few main points, that are very interesting when it comes to finding the best to farm gold and the best place to farm items.
Blizzard have acknowledged that the current loot drop philosophy has some issues and needs to be tweaked. To that end they have increased the drop rates on the lower difficulties, so people actually can upgrade in the game and not have to use the auction house all the time.

You can no longer reliably make money combining gems, but you might be able to make more money combining gems, than selling the flawless square ones on their own. I did some number crunching this morning and the results I came up with were pretty interesting. At first I thought people were selling at a loss, but once again economic theory came through. Turns out you CAN actually make money by selling gems….you just need to be smart about it!
