The best Inferno act 1 farming run, also after patch 1.0.4
Patch 1.0.4 lowered the difficulty of elite packs significantly, but with the buffs to legendary items, prices for good items have also gone up. So you still need lots of gold and that means lots of farming. Unless you are ridiculously well geared for farming Inferno act 3, farming Inferno act 1 is still your best bet for hitting it big.
So let me introduce you to one of the best routes in act 1!
Revisiting the Watch Tower in Northern Highlands
I have spoken about farming the Watch Tower in Northern Highlands before. That is because it is a really great run! It’s fast, packed with elites and it’s in Act 1.
The route starts off with “The imprisoned Angel”-quest.
WP to Northern Highlands and check if the Watch Tower has spawned. The tower doesn’t spawn every time, so depending on your mood that day, you might want to relog until you spawn the Tower. The thing about the tower is that it is usually packed with elites and goblins, so you really want it. When, and if, you spawn it, DON’T go in. Since it is packed with elite mobs, you want to save it for when you have a full NV stack.
Festering woods
Instead head off to the Festering Woods and find the two dungeons, that you head in to when you find the two pieces to gain entrance to the sunken temple. There is an elite in each dungeon guaranteed. Now we are up to 2 Nephalem Valor, with a possibility of 1 or 2 more from random elites.
Cemetery of the Forsaken
Then head to Cemetery of the Forsaken. You might get an elite in the cemetery itself, but there are also 3 dungeons. Head in to the dungeons and kill the first elite pack you meet. If you get a special event, do that as well.
Leoric’s Manor
In the courtyard of the Manor there is a guaranteed unique mob. With the changes to loot drops in patch 1.0.4 thrash mobs also drop better loot and Leoric’s Manor is packed tight with these. Now you should be up to a full NV stack.
The Watch Tower
Now we head to the Watch Tower and clear this. As said before it can be packed with elites and goblins, so you really want a full stack and you should have that now! So murder away!
Rounding off the run – Cave of the Moon Clan or Warden/Butcher
After having cleared the Tower, you can either head to Highland’s Crossing and find the Cave of the Moon Clan. This can be a bit of a pain, but you can get lucky goblins here as well. Alternatively, or in addition, you can do a standard Warden/Butcher run. You have a full NV stack, so you are primed for getting to Butcher as fast as possible. Or you could just start the run over.
Check out the full run in this nifty video:
All in all a great run, also after patch 1.0.4.
If you had any success with this run, head on over to the D3F Facebook group and share your story. You will also find lots of bite-sized content not big enough to warrant a full article here and 1100 new friends….what do you have to lose?! NOTHING!
Now get farming one of the best farming runs in Inferno act 1, ya lazy bum!

Do I have to log out of D3 or just leave the game in order for the Watch Tower to spawn?
Just leave the game and pop in again.
I save the cemetary for later. The reason is that the special events are affected by NV buf. Both the loot from Lady Dunhyld or w/e her name is and the jar of souls is affected by the buf. An added bonus is that the extra GF with the buf gives you more $ from the skeleton slaughter on the jar event.
I actually did this run before the patch but after I was finished (before I leave game) I would go to the old ruins and look for the hoarder of treasure (sakaroth I believe was his name). It only takes a few seconds and if it spawns its well worth it.
Hi.
I did this run before patch too. I’m still doing it for gaining fast xp ( I equipped my monk with 3 elements of Cain’s set for +30% xp and she can’t farm act 2 or more with it ).
The only difference is that I do cathedral level 3 (an elite is very often near the wp) before leaving.
Since Sarkoth drop less gold, I don’t do it anymore. (just if I’m near next paragon level and don’t want to start a new game)
Ya, i gotta agree. After trying this run, i made about 200,000 gold (including selling rare’s i find). I was just doing Cemetery of the Forsaken out of this run, but doing the whole thing took about an 1.5 hr’s. Well worth it, Thanks for sharing.
P.S: Any tip’s for taking down belial in inferno (demon hunter)?
sorry, i ment tips for taking down belial as witch doctor….
una recomendacion para un farmeo brutal es tener 24 de velocidad de movimiento ,o minimamente 12 . de verdad se nota el tiempo ahorrado .
Is there anything similar in act 2?
Start on the quest to kill Zultan Kul. Port to Oasis. Clear Oasis of all elites to try and get to 5NV. Port to the Desert and search for your 5 stacks. Then go in and clear the Vault of the assassins. Can easily have 4-10 packs in it each time. You can then port out and kill ZK if you want. Reset.
@vladimir
Try Vault of the Assasins in the Desolate Sands… Get your Char to the location. TP out and get 5 stacks… return und farm 8-10 elites in about 10-15 mins with proper gear. I sometimes getter better loot then in act 3 for the giving time
When you have cleared the Vault just exit and re run. You should respawn at the Vault again if you selected the right quest.
Cheers
Loved it, looking forward for your next guides ! Did someone find any similar guide/route which is at detailed as this one for act 2-3?
I am working on an act 2 farming guide as well
Should be up today or tomorrow
I did this in less than 1.5 hours and made between 200k-500k after selling rares
Because i know there are many bots in the game, I always try to find a place that doesn’t get nerfed because of bots. So I found Arreat Crater in Hell, and I was farming there for gold. Now it got nerfed. I also have found this tower that nobody seem to know about. It was my sweet spot. Now it’s all over the place, it will get nerfed because of that. Until there are no more places in this fucking game to go for nice elite/item runs. FUCK YOU botters i know your reading. And I piss on your gold, also.
this vid shows you a realy nice run but he hasnt told us what items hes using his MF and dps ect.
.
I’ve been using this run for a while and it’s really good. It seems like the watchtower spawns about 1 in 4 times. After 1.0.5 came out, I couldn’t get it to spawn in at least 10 tries. Was that just bad luck or did they change that?
ive yet to see it after this last update like your self im starting to think its been removed
If you look the Patch notes, there it’s said that it’s been moved to the Southern highlands
