The D3 unid exploit is still working
There is an exploit that has been going around for the last week or two, which is still working. With it you can get a decent sense of what an unidentified can do and consequently how much it is worth. Until the exploit is fixed, the unid market is pretty much dead. And even when it gets fixed, people still need to clear out their stash of identified unidentified before you can comfortably dive in to the market again.
This unidentified gear exploit is extremely easy to do, but the real work lies in deciphering what the ID-number means. Luckily I will give you some resources, which should shed some light on that.
Exploiting in Diablo 3 can be confusing!
While the exploit can easily be replicated and still works, figuring what the heck it all means, can be challenging. The way to do the Diablo 3 unid exploit is as follows:
- Link the unidentified item in group chat
- Follow the last ] in the item with two special characters, like ää, so it looks like [unid]ää
- The link the item again, so it looks like [unid]ää[unid]
- Set the cursor between the two special characters:
A large userbase plus a rushed game equals exploits galore. In this case we can exploit unid items easily.
- The press delete three times and you should delete the first bracket of the last linked item and you should get something like this:
This all seems like gibberish, but it will make more sense in a minute how you can use this exploit to your advantage!

how to use the item id number from the unid exploit
You use the 10 number string, in this case it is 1905180565, to get a glimpse of what the item does. The primary thing you want to look at, is the number in the ninth position. That is the position for the number of affixes on the item. You subtract two from the number and you have the number of stats the item will have. Here the number is 6, minus 2, equals 4 prefixes/suffixes. This is a level 38 item, so that is not surprising.
At iLvl 63, 62, 61 this is something you can use, since you don’t want anything below 6 stats, if you are playing the unid market. You play that market, when you are willing to take a gamble in the hopes of scoring big. So look for an 8 in the ninth position.
To gain more insight in to what the item does, you can copy the 10-strong number and Google it. That should give you a link to sites like D3plugin.com with the item already found for you. You won’t get the precise stats, but you will get an idea of the stats on the item. Depending on your needs, and your knowledge of how many stats it will roll, you will know whether to go for the item or not.
So that is your guide to using the unid exploit. Don’t expect to get much use out of it, since the unid market has completely dried up, but just knowing that something like this is it out there, puts you in a better position.

There is an alternative way to use the exploit that will show you the item as if you identified it that I learned:
1. Starting from the Sell tab in the AH, press Enter to open the chat window, then Shift+Left Click the unidentified item.
2. Move the cursor to the left of the brackets, then press Alt+147 to make a special character(it usually is í, and may take several attempts).
3. Press the right arrow, then left arrow so the cursor is between the special character and the brackets, then press DELETE(not backspace) to delete the unID item and reveal the code. Highlight and copy the code (Ctrl+C).
4. Minimize D3, and go to http://jsfiddle.net/kymXp/embedded/result/ and paste the code in the left box. Move the cursor to the beginning of the code and press Shift+\ to place the “|” sign at the start of the code, then press convert.
5. Copy the coverted code, go back to D3, and press Enter to start a new chat line. Paste the code(Ctrl+V) and it will show up as the unID item. Press Enter.
6. Although it will say that it isn’t going to a valid recipient, if you then click on the bracketed item in that line, it will display the item stats as if it was identified.
I know the instructions sounds like it takes a while to do, but once you know the process, it can take less than 30 seconds per item. Fun to do, but like you said, it pretty much killed the unID market.

You can’t…they are generally sold thru the trade channel in-game.
Is this mean that un-id items are pre-set at the time of drop rather than at the time of id-ing?
I have few un-id legendary items waiting for blizzards to fix legendary weakness.
Blizzard confirmed a long time ago that items are given stats on drop – not on identify
