D3 Monk elite exploit is still working….most of the time

This little gem has been in the game since launch, but the exploit is not working 100% of the time. Basically it lets you get triple loot from elite packs and any class can do it, however some classes, such as monk, have it a lot easier when trying to replicate the results.

No matter what, you aren’t worse off for not having triggered the exploit, you just get your normal loot.

Killing everything at once is the key to making this D3 elite exploit work

The usual way of getting loot from elite packs is to pick one elite off another, and then finally taking out the last one and getting your loot. So you get your loot, when you kill the final elite. However, if you kill every one in the pack at exactly the same time, they all count as the last one, and you get loot from all of them.

There is very little room for error when doing this, so that is why it can be difficult to replicate 100% of the time. You might hit one elite a milli-second later than the rest of the pack, and then that counts as the last one. So you need to have all the mobs at almost the same distance from you, when you hit your killing blow.

AOE is the only way to ensure they all get killed at the same time, so in order to be able to do this, you need to be able to do a 360 degree AOE and it needs to be a big one. This is why monk is the best class for this elite exploit work. A skill like Exploding palm, does 30% of the mob’s health in damage to all of them, and with the amount of hitpoints the elites have, that is a huge amount of damage, practically ensuring that the rest of the pack dies.

Huge AOE damage is the key successfully use this Diablo 3 farming exploit

Other classes have similar AOE skills, that does huge amounts of damage, but not anything coming close to 30% of an elite’s HP. If you want to try it on something like Wizard, then a skill like “Wave of force” with the “Impactful wave”-rune is your best bet:

Wizards can attempt to use this D3 farming exploit with something like Wave of force, but it might prove more difficult than with melee classes.

Monk is probably your best bet for using this Diablo 3 exploit

The reason monk, and to some extent barbarian, is best suited for this farm exploit, is that your need to be able to tank a full elite pack, while carefully AOE’ing the whole pack down to within inches of death. You can’t really kite the pack, and pick them off one by one, as ranged classes are want to do. So trying this is probably best left to melee classes.

This need to be able to tank the full pack, is also the strongest case against doing this for serious farming. When you can tank a full pack, you can probably also kill higher act elite packs by being more careful. So if you can tank an act 1 pack, you can kite an act 2 pack and get better loot. The decision rests on how quickly you kill the different packs in the different acts. If you can faceroll through act 2, but have some problems in Act 3, you are better off in act 2. If you have decent gear, and can farm act 3 with some careful planning, you might be better off doing act 3. As always, your playstyle may not be suited for this exact way of farming, so you might be better off doing something else. Try it and see if you can it to work for you!

IF you get any decent magic find pieces, be sure to keep them for a while, since I believe Magic Find in Diablo 3 is a bit undervalued.
