Massive potential profits in the magic find market on the D3 AH
It is no secret, that there are huge profits to be made on the auction house, but the problem is finding those sweet spots in the market. To be able to do this, you need to get to know and follow parts of the market daily, preferably several times a day. I do this and in time, I will let you in on my routines, but for now, allow me to point your attention to a part of the market with a 100% potential for profit in Diablo 3: Magic find.
Safeguard your fortune from inflation and get rich in the process
Last week I talked about preserving your gold value by focusing on collecting a MF set, staying out of gold as much as possible and staying invested in high end gear. This still holds true and will do this until the scourge that is botting in D3 gets under control. With the Demonbuddy bot and the other bots being able to go unpunished, inflation will continue until Blizzard starts being able to reliably detect and ban botters. Until then, you want to stay as invested as possible, and luckily just such an opportunity has presented itself.
Currently a shift is happening from gold find to magic find as being the best way to make money in Diablo 3. With gold find you are only able to farm a fixed amount of gold per hour, which is about 500k per hour. The problem is that 500k gold is becoming worth less and less as the amount of gold in economy keeps growing and you are able to buy less for the same amount of gold. With magic find you go for items instead, and as we talked about in an earlier article, items will keep up with inflation. So if you farm 10 hours for items and get a piece that sells for 5 million, that is the same as 500k gold per hour farmed. If you farm the same item 1 month later, it will sell for 7 million and if you still only farm for 10 hours to get it, meaning that you farm for 700k gold per hour and you keep up with inflation.
Magic find in D3 will boom
Blizzard are also acutely aware of the fact that their loot sucks, and consequently, that the Diablo 3 endgame sucks. They need to fix this, and they will in time. This also means that farming endgame content for gear will become viable and you might actually get something else than junk most of the time. This will further make magic find more popular and boost the price…..but only for certain pieces.
There is one big difference between the GF and the MF market. With GF you can successfully farm gold in places like NM Arreat crater and don’t have to worry that much about surviving. This also means, that blue pieces with only GF can be sold reliably. With MF you need to have survivability and DPS as well, so pieces with only MF aren’t worth as much pieces with money stats on them.
Make money on 39% magic find amulets
If we look at the GF amulet market, we see a natural difference between 40% and 39% amulets. The 40% amulets are around 1.3 mill gold:
While the 39% GF amulets are around 1 million gold:
That is a 20% difference in price, which is only natural, since we go from best-in-slot to almost-best-in-slot. This is on the EU AH, but the same applies to the US AH. The prices may vary a bit during the week, but the spread is about 15-20%.
If we look at the magic find amulets, we find a different picture. The 40% amulets are around 1 million on the EU AH:
The fact that magic find is cheaper than gold find only adds to the profit potential. This is only for the EU AH, though. On the US AH, magic find is more expensive and I expect this to also happen on the EU AH. However, the spread between 39% and 40% magic find amulets are about the same, 50%:
I expect this gap to diminish to the level of GF 40-39 amulets (15-20%), and I also expect the price of MF to rise, so it’s a double whammy for 39% magic find amulets. This is even more so the case on the EU AH, where magic find is currently extremely undervalued compared to GF. Because the 40% amulets will rise in price, and the 39% amulets will move to within 15-20% of the 40% amulets, there is a 100% profit potential in the 39% MF amulet market.
The same applies to the US market, but here MF is currently more popular than GF, so the effect is not going to be as pronounced as on the EU AH. The profit potential is still huge, though:
This is how to make money in the Diablo 3 magic find market
There are many ways to spin money off of this:
- Go for quality. Rare amulets with money stats are the way go, since you will need DPS and survivability in order to farm MF properly.
- Be patient. This shift from GF to MF is not going to happen overnight, but it will take a few months. Use the time to bid tactically, snipe low-bid auctions and search for low-BO auction several times a day.
- Don’t stop flipping items on the AH. You will still need capital, so tie up half your money in 39% amulets and flip the rest.
- Once you have a sizable portion of 39%, start looking for other profit opportunities. It is never a good idea to focus on only one thing, so spread your assets and risks.
So there you have it! How to make money on Diablo 3 magic find amulets. Don’t forget to swing by the Facebook group, where I post videos and links a day or two before they here. The same applies to the Youtube channel: more content sooner.
Now get farming, ya lazy bum!

MF is way way over priced on the American server. 1mill + for garbage. Have to ask is 39 mf alone worth it.
Imho Better to go for higher mf in other equipment to meet the survive and dps challenges and buy an amulet that is actually useful.
Not 39 MF alone, unless you can do a quick flip. Go for quality if you are investing for the medium term.
The reason people will buy a 39% MF amulet with nothing else on it is because they will just throw it on a follower that they have no intention on keeping alive.
Waiting one month to make profit ?? Are you kidding ??
With 1.0.4 MF will cap and you can no longer hope to make money with MF gear
