Hotfix on June 28 increases iLvl63 item drops
As I talked about earlier, the drop rates for iLvl63 gear has been a bit off, but patch 1.0.3B was supposed to fix that. However, Blizzard has decided to forgo a big patch, and roll out the changes as they are ready. This will be done through hotfixes, which won’t require downloads or downtime. And on June 28th we got a huge hotfix lootwise!
iLvl 61 to iLvl 63 items increased up to 100%!
This loot hotfix affects Acts 3 and 4 in Hell and Acts 1-4 on Inferno. The new droprates are as follows:
Hell – Act III and Act IV
iLvl 61: 13.9% from 9%
iLvl 62: 3.45% from 1.9%
iLvl 63: no change, 0%
Inferno – Act I
iLvl 61: 23.9% from 17.7%
iLvl 62: 12.6% from 7.9%
iLvl 63: 4.8% from 2.0%
Inferno – Act II
iLvl 61: 23.3% from 18.6%
iLvl 62: 18.6% from 12.4%
iLvl 63: 9.3% from 4.1%
Inferno – Act III and Act IV
iLvl 61: 27.1% from 24.1%
iLvl 62: 21.7% from 16.1%
iLvl 63: 16.3% from 8.0%
What we are most interested in, is of course the iLvl 63 gear drop rates. At Act Inferno 1, this has more than doubled from 2% to 4.8%! That is huge, when you combine it with Dank Cellar runs, which is easy-mode Inferno Act 1 item and gold farming. On top of this, they have added a checkpoint, right when you exit the old ruins to run to the Dank Cellar, meaning the whole run takes 15 seconds less than before! That’s 25% more runs, 25% more gold and 25% more shots at iLvl 63. Pretty sweet!
On Inferno act 2, the iLvl63 gear drop rate has increased to 9.3% from 4.1%, more than doubling the drop rate. The same goes for Acts 3 and 4, which jumps the drop rate from 8% to 16.3%. Note that Act 3 and Act 4 Inferno have the same droprates for iLvl 63, so no use in farming Act 4, when you get just as much iLvl 63 gear on Act 3.
It is also worth noting, that Act 3 and 4 in Hell, drops iLvl 62 and iLvl 61 loot, which can be just as sweet as iLvl 63, if it rolls well. So you might want to do a few Hell runs to see if it works out better for you that day.
Bosses now drop 2 rares with a 5 stack NV
Also hotfixed today: Bosses now drop 1 guaranteed rare with 4 Nephalem Valor and 2 guaranteed rares with a full 5 stack of NV.
Warden/Butcher runs suddenly made more sense now. With guaranteed drops and a doubling of the drop rates for iLvl63 gear, you could actually start gearing up for DPS and survivability and forgo magic find and gold find…and still get good loot! I like that idea, as it allows more playstyles than just “Get 300% GF/MF and run Siegebreaker until you vomit”…although running Siegebreaker with 300% MF just got better!
However, I still prefer running Arreat Crater, as I laid out in my D3 goldfarming guide, since you do get straight up gold and don’t have to AH anything or get good drops for it to work.
So in conclusion, a really great hotfix, that increases iLvl 63 drop rates. What is not to like about that?!
Don’t forget to head on over to Facebook and join the Diablo3farming page. Just today I alerted the members of a 100% increase in the price of square emeralds, allowing you to double your money easily.
Now get out there and enjoy that sweet, sweet iLvl 63 gear! Get farming, ya lazy bum!

damp cellar exploit got hotfixed right now apparently
it still works. I have just run it for 30 minutes and got iLvl 63 gear. It’s still only 5% drop rate for iLvl 63, but it’s there
The problem with running Arreat Crater on Nightmare is that personally I couldn’t make more than 150K an hour, even with +300% GF. OTOH, running Act 1 Inferno nets me somewhere over 100K / hour but with the added bonus of high level item drops. I have found several great upgrades from these runs, as well as a nice legendary that I sold on the AH for a decent price.
Very good info, didn’t pick up on the 2x rare on 5 neph stacks, it absolutely makes it more worthwhile to run Act 3, which I can’t do in MF gear.
Still, I like the Act 1 runs on elite packs, because I can do it in 205% mf, fast and without dying, but I think Act 3 is nice for the variety and now it is worth it aswell.
You seem fond of gold farming, do you store your gold in items, real money or straight gold?
