Making real money on the RMAH is possible, but you have to be quick

The US RMAH is live, but the EU RMAH is delayed. The new launch date for the EU AH is now june 15th. The first reports coming from people that have used the RMAH are positive and of course people are shocked at the pricesthey can sell their items for.

However, you can’t sell gold yet. This is what I am most interested in and where you stand to make the most money: by using the gold money AH to make gold or trade up, then sell that on the real money AH. My original ideas from way back when still stand.

Throw everything on the RMAH at ridiculous prices

This is what will make you the most money right now: take all of your best gear, throw it on the RMAH at a high, but average price. It doesn’t matter if you use it to farm, just sell it if you can. The market right now is unstable and people don’t know how much things cost. Stormshields sell for 250 USD, minor DH upgrades sell for 20 USD. If its level 60 and yellow, or above, it will almost certainly sell.

But it won’t last and I believe we start to see a normal market within a week or two. Then we will see a flood of decent gear hit the RMAH and the underbidding war will start and prices will drop. If you sell your best farming gear right now, you can buy it back in 3 weeks time for cheap. Alternatively you can buy gold on the RMAH and go to the GMAH and buy your gear back there.

D3 gear and gold prices will drop

Everyone will try and sell their gold on the RMAH and I believe the prices will drop like a rock. Sure, we will see goldfarmers sell their wares on there, but Joe Average who has never even contemplated walking on the grey side of gaming, is now allowed officially to sell his gold and gear for real money. Do you think he will do this? Yes, he most certainly will and at ridiculous prices at first. But then slowly, people start realizing that you can’t sell crap gear for 30$. You can’t sell 1 mill gold for 20 USD. And then prices will drop on everything as people start underbidding to get rid of their wares.

It’s in the middle of this two week chaos you will make your money. By setting realistic prices with an eye on the competition, you will sell gear for twice of what it is worth in two weeks time. Just because the rest of the market refuse to lower their prices. By being in the lower end of a (unrealistically and unsustainable) high market, you cater to the people who want to throw real money at this game, but don’t want to pay stupid money for their gear.

There are people out there, for whom time is worth more than money. They have no problem spending 200 USD on an item, but if they can get the item for 180 USD, they will. They aren’t stupid, there’s a reason they have that kind of money to spend on a game!

Make real money on the Diablo 3 RMAH by undercutting in a bubble market

TLDR: Make money on the D3 RMAH by undercutting the next few weeks until the dust settles on the AH and everyone floods it with cheap gear.
