Best way to farm elites in Diablo 3 for low-geared characters

Farm elites easy in D3 for items using geometry exploits

With the previous easy-mode AFK farming nerfed, you have been relegated to warden/butcher runs and maybe Siegebreaker runs to break up the monotony, if you are stuck on Act 4 Inferno.

The downside to Warden/Butcher runs is that Act 1 Inferno doesn’t give you a shot at iLvl 63 weapons, which are the highest in the game. That is set to change with the new D3 patch 1.0.3, which buffs loot, but until then you can’t get the highest level weapons in the game, by farming act 1. And Siegebreaker runs are generally just boring! However, all is not lost!

Even if you are a bit low-geared (aren’t we always?), you can use the map in some places in act 3 to farm elites in D3 very easy. Technically this isn’t exploiting, since the mobs can easily get to you, they just have some pathing issues right there in that spot…..who am I kidding…that is exploiting, but not bannable, since you aren’t doing anything out of the ordinary to do it!

Use magic find to farm elites for high level items

This takes places in Act 3, Heart of Sin, second heart. You need to be able to do ranged damage, and you need to able to farm thrash in Act 3. Usually the thrash isn’t the problem, but you are usually in for a world of hurt, when you run in to elite packs in Acts you don’t have on farm.

But using this geometry exploit, you just need to find the elite packs and lure them to the sweet spot, then wipe. You take a small durability hit, but it’s a small price to pay for what you are to do afterwards.

Once you die and respawn, you can leisurely run to the ledge and fire away at the elite pack. Once you have the elite leader down to his last sliver of health, switch to magic find gear. You have plenty of time to do this, because the elite pack isn’t moving. Seeing as you don’t have a full Nephalem Valor Stack, you need all the magic find you can get on your gear. But because you don’t need to kill anything at this point, you don’t really need anything but magic find on your gear. So slap together a magic find set from the AH and just focus on magic find as the only stat. The 75% you get from a full Nephalem Valor Stack shouldn’t be something you miss too much by doing this. Then kill the elites and loot.

So there you have it! An easy way to farm elites in Diablo 3. Now get farming, ya lazy bum!

    • It is still possible with a monk and I know this because my friend does it but I never asked him how because I am not there yet. Just go through all your skills first and see if 1 of your ranged skills can hit them (I know you have ranged skills because I have a monk on act 1 inferno). If none of the ranged skills work find a bow.

  1. So, we have to actually advance the game in inferno to this point right? Bummer, can’t get to act 2 even, lol. Thx for tips.

    Any new gold farming tips?

    • You could have a friend invite and run you to this point in the questline. However, if you don’t have the gear to take thash on, you won’t get far :(

  2. Hi mate,

i’m stuck in act 1. Is it possible to get an invite next time u online to get access to the way point. somewhere close to act 3 for me to get to this sweet spot?

    Tung

  3. Any news of this being hotfixed? Just went 30 times without being able to spawn into the checkpoint. In town every time.

  4. Ok, I’m a bit confused since I started at looking at what items can hold what % increase of Magic Find. Except for weapons, (but including the OH), there are 11 items that can have a max of 12%, one that can have 25% and one that can have (at the small cost of about 1000K when all is said and done) 31%, which if my math is correct = 188% increase – yet you stated ( I swear you did) in the video that you had 230 and I would love to hear how you do that.

Also, I didn’t see any pets in your vid (could be the resolution) but just to mention ferrets provide 4% (I think) increase in gold find AND they go pick it up for you.

    • Ok I withdraw my question – I’m lvl 58 and just started looking at lvl 60 gear and I see where you’re going with it – sorry for not looking first.

  5. I ran through to Tower of the Cursed level 2 and did not get a checkpoint there. Was on the same quest, basically copied the video verbatim, but to no avail. Can someone let me know what’s up?

  6. Works perfectly. Made 10 mill the past 2 days with my dh and more money Inc, and i can finally gear up my monk, thank you so much!!

  7. There are 2 possible designs of that tower, the one in the video is the right one. If you get the wrong one, you have to restart the quest and work your way down there again, because once you get there, you will keep getting that one.

If you resume, there’s a 50% chance of starting in the tower or in the keep. If you start in the keep, just quit and resume again, eventually it will work.

  8. Don’t think it works. I never get a checkpoint when I get to level 2, and when I resume quest I spawn at Areat crater every time. I just made it to that spot too..all that work for nothing, yet again thanks to blizzard. Unless it’s just me, with my terrible luck.

  9. alot of times, i log out and click resume game and im in town with no town portal :/ what am i doing wrong?
