A primer on leveling faster in Diablo 3
These last few days I have been trying to find a quicker way to level up new characters. After all, higher levels faster means better farming, faster!
It’s actually really simple, if you boil it down to its principal parts. Leveling fast means getting XP fast and there are a few ways to do this.
Leveling faster in D3 by rushing through maps
This is how everyone rushed to Inferno so fast and completed Inferno and killed Diablo. You could call it exploiting D3, it certainly wasn’t the way Blizzard intended you to play the game, but calling it that would be rather extreme. Instead it is using in-game mechanics to gain an advantage and outsmarting the map and the mobs. People would skip thrash mobs, because they could, and skip champion and elite packs, because they are the hardest parts of the map. The bosses themselves are easier to handle, since you know what you are up against each time and can work on tweaking your methods.
One thing to keep in mind, is that bosses don’t drop the best loot, unless you have a full stack of the Nephalem Valor Buff. But going for this is a very viable farming tactic.
Leveling faster by using the D3 AH
There are ways of making you level faster, by using the AH to your advantage. These items will make a huge difference in your leveling speed. Margins count and especially so here.
+experience items
Think about how many mobs you kill on a given map? 100? 200? By using +experience items, you easily rake in 30-50% more experience on a map. It could easily mean another 15-20k experience free per map clear at level 30.
At lower levels just get +experience items and update them every 5 levels. Because you keep your weapon DPS up to speed, you will have good DPS all the way through.
Level 1-20 look for armor and weapons with +experience and set the maximum price to 500 gold.
Level 30+ set the maximum price to 1000 gold and also start looking for your main stat (DEX/INT/STR) on items. Don’t forget sockets and putting flawless square gems in them. Put a flawless square ruby in your head piece and your main stat gem in everything else.
Also stack your follower with +experience gear, since he will actually share 20% of it with you. That’s easily another 20-50 to experience. Every little bit counts when you want to level faster!
Reduced level requirement
This is a little known part of leveling faster. Weapons can have a stat that reduces the level requirement to equip it. I have seen upwards of 15 levels in reduced minimum level to equip it. You could potentially equip a level 60 weapon at level 45! Not actually do you get higher money stats, your DPS will also be ridiculous!
In the AH, look for higher level weapons 50+ with a reduced level requirement, your money stat and sockets. People are starting to realize these are good, but you can be lucky to find them cheap on the AH. With decent stats, a lvl 60 weapon below 100k-200k gold is a really good deal. The above weapon had a BO of 500,000 gold and should sell quickly given its high DPS, high DEX, socket and cold damage. In case you were wondering what cold damage does, it gives a chance to slow mobs. Very nice!
So there you have it. There is your guide to leveling faster in Diablo 3. Now go out and level faster, ya lazy bum!

this is fantastic, thanks for the tips.

Just wanted to say that the lowered level requirement on weapons is so helpful, it is really amazing how high you can get your dps compared to other people around your level. I usually update my weapon every 5 levels after 30. Learned it from your site, thanks bro.
